Interview With Your Arborist – Lisa Venner

How did you first find the tree care industry?
When I got out of the Air Force and needed a career path! I was searching for a field where I could be active and outside, and answered a position for a local tree apprentice position.
What was it that inspired you to stay?
I genuinely enjoyed the work. I enjoyed meeting new people, the hard work, and the people I worked with.
It’s fun to prune trees, see real results, and leave a positive impact on the community and the environment.
What’s your favorite part of an average day ‘in your boots’ as an Arborist?
At this point in my career, it’s helping people and helping to educate them on proper tree care and plant health care. Finding solutions to a tough problem clients are struggling with in their yard – be it watering, stubborn aphids, or picking the right tree- is so rewarding.
What’s something you wish more people knew about arborists, the tree care industry, or just trees in general?
Proper care and watering! Trees and shrubs are living beings, and need consistent water and nutrients that they need. Thriving trees aren’t ‘set and forget’ – they need proper care that’s tailored and specific to their needs.
